Hiking

Northside is home to a rich variety of wildlife and plant life. The terrain is blanketed by forests of Aspen, Engelmann and Blue Spruce, Corkbark and Douglas Fir, and Bristlecone Pine. Visitors may spot Bighorn Sheep, Elk, Mule Deer, Bobcats, Black Bears, Coyotes, and even Lynx, along with smaller animals like Marmots, Ermine, Snowshoe Hares, and Blue Grouse. The area is a birdwatcher’s haven, with Stellers and Gray Jays, Woodpeckers, Chickadees, Ruby-Crowned Kinglets, and Hummingbirds. In spring and summer, wildflowers such as Columbine, Paintbrush, Kings Crown, Bluebells, and Fairy Slipper add bursts of color throughout the trails.
